Tiny cottages

I started these wool cottage pin cushions at least a year ago. I had the goal of making 10 for Artfest vendor night. I think I finished up 6 and sold them. These have been sitting in my sewing room waiting for me to finish them up. I finally got in the mood to play with them. I think I still have a bit more to do but it seemed like a good day to take them outside for a quick photo. The first set are appearing in the latest issue of "Stuffed" magazine but I haven't seen the issue yet. I will let you know when it arrives!
I also have some fabric flower pins coming up in the latest issue of "Sew Somerset"scheduled for June release and that's exciting too.

Another project that finally got completed.....I made these mushrooms years ago....they got painted except for the white spots. Why, I don't know..but it felt good to finish them up and they seemed to be right at home with the little cottages.

This is the back of a journal cover that I am working on. I got the beautiful indigo paper at Anthropologie last year and now found a way to use it. It's funny how sometimes the back side is just as interesting as the front.

And here is Jason's cat watching while I take photos....the cats always want to see what I am up to.

Owls

The owls got wings and some stitching this weekend. Now to figure out how to resize photos in "iphoto". With my newish computer I need to re-learn how to do things. Hopefully my son Justin can help me later today so I can actually get some things on Etsy again. It's sort of a rainy, cold day today so I plan to stay home and organize fabric and finish up some projects that need completion.
I am having too much fun over on Pinterest! So many cool images...better than FB for me!

Robin

While I have quite a few other works in progress it's hard to keep from doing some hooking.
So I hooked up this chubby robin  and stuffed it today. Still needs some legs but couldn't resist taking a photo out in our toyon bush.

Ten owls

My friend Jeanette was cleaning out her art studio and gave me a nice big bag of thickly felted sweaters that she decided she wasn't going to be using. Out of one sweater I managed to make ten little owls.
These guys still need some wings and a bit of embroidery on their chests and then they should be done. Hopefully I can put some in my dusty Etsy shop. It has just been easier for me to cart things off to a wonderful little store here in Santa Barbara that sells some of the things I make than driving up and down the mountain to the post office to ship things. But I enjoy buying art and supplies on Etsy so I think I should at least participate too!

Anyway here is what the owls looked like a few days ago. On top of my bedroom bookshelf with other unfinished items including some chenille bunnies from last year!

And I am having fun doing a little painting and collage...and small seems to work for me right now.
So these are getting their background painting done so I can work on them when I can grab a moment or two.

I hooked this a while ago but don't think I ever posted it...so since it's February and the month of hearts....
a little message to me as a reminder...

Happy Valentine's Day!

I've always loved hearts and so they find their way into my art most of the time. This is a tiny painting with collaged hearts from paper I brought back from Japan a few years ago.

Another heart painting I've been fiddling with.

and a few of the hearts in our house....
hope you have a day filled with LOVE!

More hearts

Been busy making hearts of all kinds, fabric, paper and painted ones in time for Valentine's Day.
Most of these have gone off to a local shop but I am still working on some for friends.

The bird images were taken from an old needlework piece that I found at Art From Scrap that was never completed. I felt it was time to cut it up and use it!

Oh, and I had a birthday! Celebrated last week with a fun luncheon with art pals complete with a Solvang Bakery birthday cake from Susan Halme. And it was delicious, just ask my husband!

Love this card!
Hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!
